The Vanna Venturi House is compelling within the pedagogy of architecture as it manifests some of Robert Venturi's conjectures from "Complexity and Contradictions in Architecture" that defy the purism of modernism. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's hackneyed adage "god is in the details" provided a lens through which to understand the building as well as Venturi's ideologies. Parti construction details were drawn based on the construction documents. Parameters for choice included simple geometry and significant height variation,
The robot is programmed follow the path of an orthographic projection of the object on itself. Trim pieces are traditionally used to cover up edges, but often develop more edges then they cover. Redundancy is therefore embedded into the trim piece.

Red lining and orthographic drawing is then used as a tool outside of representation, The video highlights moments where there were discrepancies in fidelity between the CNC machined physical model and the robut tool path. This is a translation of representational techniques from analogue to digital. The red maintains its representational use to indicate moments of required intervention. The final object is embedded with a representation of itself both from 3D to 2D and from 2D to 3D. The moments where the pen is too far away from, or punctures the foam, represent the loss in fidelity that occurs between analogue and digital forms.
